Today I'm feeling a bit random. I chat mostly about my C-Band Satellite dish and my happiness that it's finally cold enough for it to work again. With access to some form of TV, I might be able to chit-chat with my coworkers about the latest episode of whatever. Check out PBS on monday 11/6 for a show about life (American Experience??) in the Gold Country, filmed where I live and work. Also, my Kiwi Friend Luigi is doing a podcast now. DUH!! Luigi Cappel has a new song out called "Mr Bush Why Can't We Be Friends"....you can hear it at his MusicForte site.

Here's what Luigi has to say about his new song in an email:

"The background is that 20 or so years ago our country voted to ban nuclear powered and armed ships from our ports. That had nothing to do with our feelings of friendship with the USA, we have always been friends, but we have a democracy and pride ourselves on being clean and green (most of the time) and the only things nuclear in New Zealand are for cancer treatment and research in hospitals.

Anyway, as a consequence, the United States decided that we were no longer friends of the US. They banned us from ANZUS, which was our local defence treaty, stopped allowing us to participate in defence training, denied us free trade agreements, shut us out from most military intelligence and in effect all but shut the door on us.

Things have thawed a little recently. We have been allowed to participate in 3 defence training programs and recently 17 New Zealand soldiers were given US Medals of Honor for service in Afghanistan. Other than that, we are still not friends.

So. I think its about time this stopped, so I wrote a song to protest about it and to try to get people aware of this. As the song says, "Our men fought along with yours on a dozen foreign shores". Why does New Zealand have to look to the likes of China for a Free Trade Agreement?"

Ok, another unintended podcast for your ears. I got called into work ON MY DAY OFF but I got released early. Kentie of the FlatusShow sent a DVD to me and chatted a bit about GeoCaching, thank you Kentie. So, we chat a bit about GPS technology and another FREEkbook for you ppl (send an email if you want the book dammit). Then I play some actual music, actually made by me with the help of a program called Music Mouse. The pic on display here is of my Amiga500, with HD and a rodent with red glowing eyes watching all ;)

Join me on my unexpected day off. Today, we go on a Geocaching Adventure to find the "Golden Moment" geocache. Before we get to that, I chat a bit about something completely random....I met a PODCASTER on Fathers Day...totally random....he produces a show called "Bells In The Batfry" . I play some podsafe music from FreedomPeople and NewLeaf, provided by the Podsafe Music Network. Kentie from the FlatusShow sent me a DVD as a prize for sending him a voicemail. WOW! This Episode is G-rated, due to the fact that the geocaching crowd might hear this podcast. There is some singing about nudity in one of the songs I play today, but nothing graphic or offensive.

Today, I play some more music from the PodSafe Music Network and talk a bit about firefighters. Oh, Pizzababe gives me some advice about visiting the firecamp. Enjoy!

This is the just the musical bit from the previous epsiode, as intended to be heard. Audacity needed a new MP3 encoder installed, and it fucked with my audio a bit. Here, unmolsted by the "new and improved" LAME mp3 encoder, the audio sounds like it should have been heard originally. I think the new encoder shifted the pitch a bit too high. So, here is the original file straight off the iRiver. The screen shot is of the sequencer I use, Dr T's KCS (which I also have installed in my Atari ST emulator).

Ok, so the spot I chose to "enjoy myself" at was visible from the trail...well, sort of.....

Today, I returned to Coyote Creek (Natural Bridges) for a swim. Of course, I had to swim Au Natural. I have to warn you that todays episode has not been edited, nor have I attempted to "clean up" the sound by scrubbing out the sound of the creek. It's a type of audio that you will either LOVE, or it will drive you bonkers and you'll HATE it. The creek has a very White-Noise/Static sound which some ppl attempt to recreate by purchasing electronic devices to help them sleep. So, if you're not the type that finds the WhiteNoise relaxing, I urge you to not listen to this episode. However, you'll miss a very special moment that is heard at appx 25:31....no cherries were involved ;)

This weekend I drove out to Osprey Point at New Melones Lake, in order to revisit the private little bay where I had recorded an episode of my show. I believe it was called "Skinny Dipping & a Lot Lizzard". In anycase, compare this view of the bay 11JUN06 to the view posted above which was taken the day I went skinny dipping. The wet winter really added some water to the lake. As you can see, it's even flooded some oak trees (which will probably die off because they can't take water during summer).

Short show today...sick cat...1 yr anniversary...DSL issues...Goodbye..whoops, short Bush rant....

I admit it, my Amiga is my addiction. Now that it's booting up regularly, I'll be spending a LOT of time in that computer room/shrine. In that room, I found a mysterious scroll from my past...after some chat about my favorite Amiga software I read the contents of the scroll for your amusement.

I'm trapped in AmigaLand...fired up the old computer and recorded some old skool Amiga-generated music created using Octamed. I didn't write the music, I just played with the demo tunes on the Octamed disk.

I also have 2 music clips from an old cassette tape I found in my archives. I need some help identifying the artists.

I chat a bit about my geeky, nerdy high school days..sort of. This episode is more about my computer history than my high school days.

Spoon was a writers/readers mailing list/discussion group that I participated in back in the early 90's on GEnie or Compuserve. I found an old cassette tape which contained an experiment in music sharing/jam session. Of course I had to share this audio with my wonderful audience! The music ranges in style from folksy to synthpop. Enjoy :)

FREEkBook Friday!

Then, we travel to the WaterWheel Saloon to sit in while ALMA sets up for the Cinco De Mayo gig. I was able to speak with Bull, Isiah, and Nick. I had fun hanging out while they did the set-up and sound checks.

 

Spring has finally sprung, so I'm finally a bit busier at work. Of course, this means that I'm slacking up a bit with the podcasts. I have some fun stuff in the works. Also, just a reminder...whomever wants the FREEKBook (Publicity:How to Get It) from my latest podcast needs to send me an email. Archerr was the first to comment about the book, but he posted that it should be sent to the next person who wants the "prize".

I've been using the public library to post my shows and download the shows I enjoy. It isn't that tough, not too much of a hardship. My difficulties with the "new" AT&T continue. New segment: Freak Book Friday!! Listen to win. Finally, Electra Raygun  has agreed to an interview...interviewing Wayne was fun, but Electra MUST be heard. Her Majesty has some evil plans, and eats baby brains for breakfast. The interview is planned for Sunday evening.

Part 2: Oakdale to SF Arrival

Ok, so I got the show split wrong. Ignore yesterdays notes. In this episode we complete the journey to SF. We manage to chat about wine, high energy particle physics, and bitch about road construction.

 

Hey there peeps. I forgot to load my flash-drive with the mp3 for SDR49.5(part2), sorry . This means I cannot post the show until tomorrow. Whoops.

Part 2 contains the BART audio, and audio of me standing on the street corner (feeling like a whore) waiting for Corkey to come pick me up. Also, we have a little snippet with Zilla and Corkey talking about a person they both know. Zilla was freaked out. Then I talk about the Hostel Situation and why I bailed out of town after Zilla and I got totally wet while GeoCaching for a cache called "Dolores Park And Bark" (waypoint GCH49B).

I finally took a trip out of Hicksville and ventured to SanFransisco to meet ZillaFag and Corky (Bad Weeds). I had a great time meeting them, we had a nice walk through the Castro and a cute little lunch somewhere.

Hey everyone, I'm off to SanFrancsisco to meetup with Zilla and Corkey & Duncan! Happy Birthday Zilla!!

I'm excited about this adventure, 'cause I have not been to SF since a Gary Numan concert in 1998 (at the Fillmore). I found some decent lodging, which you'll hear about early next week. I have never stayed at a Hostel Dorm before, so this should be interesting. I'm still working on SDR50, so SDR51 will probably be posted before Episode 50....I  know it's confusing...but when you're a multi-dimensional spirit, ya just have to be flexible with your concepts of "time".

 

Whoops, I ate the damn special brownies I made for Zilla...oh well. I'm gonna enjoy some music, and the wonderful sunshine that we're getting today..FINALLY...I have not seen blue sky for 2-3 weeks!
